Bistro at the top of our road, but it was wonderful. A nice bottle of wine, and then we did what we always used to do and shared the 'Seafood Fritto Misto' starter and then the 'Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna' for a main course. The food was great and it was lovely to just sit outside in the evening sun and chat about everything and nothing. Then we ambled back down to the house and curled up on the sofa. It was my kind of evening!
Yesterday we drove south to Fallbrook, where S's cousins daughter lives. She came up to spend Christmas with us, but now her Mum (S's cousin) and Dad were over from Florida for a visit. It is the first time I have been to Fallbrook and the countryside is quite stunning - very green and rolling, a far cry from the desert we drove through between LA and there. L lives in a lovely little house on the side of a hill where you can see nothing but green rolling hills all around you. She has a dozen or more avocado trees and so we all walked out and picked 2 bags full of them before heading back to the house for a little alfresco dining and some great conversation. Later one my son G and L headed back out into the field to do some more fruit picking and this time came back with a bag full of oranges - Just look at the haul we got:
|The only place in town - yes that is what it is called!|
So, now you can see why I am suddenly feeling so much better today than last week...I haven't met anyone I can just call and invite over for coffee or out for lunch, but I have people who have been a part of S's life off and on for years, and will now be a part of my life too - and that is a great thing, a wonderful thing, and I plan to revel in it for the rest of the week or at least until S gets back home on Thursday night....
Have a great week
